Hi, I'm Avery. I sold hand-poured candles on Etsy for three years, and for most of that time I was invisible.

My candles were good. My photos were fine. But I had no idea how Etsy's search worked, so my titles were things like "Lavender Candle" and my tags were a panic thirty seconds before I hit publish. A handful of views a day, and no idea why.

I tried the tools everyone recommends. They were either a wall of charts that made me feel stupid, or they cost more than I was making. Every one of them handed me data and walked away. I still had to figure out what it meant and do the work myself, at midnight, when I should have been making candles.

The thing that finally changed my shop was learning that Etsy reads multi-word phrases, that titles get front-loaded, that all 13 tags should pull their weight, and that half of mine got zero searches. Once I rewrote my listings around that, the views climbed and the orders followed.
